When you started working, how did you find your first job? Was it different from the way you thought about it? Was it too easy or too hard? Did your pay check suck because your boss paid you too little. Or was your boss or other co workers irritating? Last, Did your boss gave you little of the job just because of your disability? Well, you don't have to answer all of these questions just share some of it.
Wow! So many questions, but excelent ones. My first job was in college as a student braillist. I responded to your "what do you do for a living" topic about that. I'd been attending the four-year college for about a year when they asked me to do the job in the office for students with disabilities. I think I did a service, and the job itself "grew" as I was there longer. I first learned about orienting people to the campus with varying mobility skills. I also wrote brochures on services that were available. I had a couple idiot bosses, and some of the staff were "out there". for the most part, I really enjoyed it. I was paid minimum wage, but I was living at home and had few expenses, so it was a good fit for me at the time. Great topic! Thanks for starting it.

Well with my first job, I was still sighted. I started working at a Burger King. I had one jackass of a manager, but good assistant managers, and good friends as co workers. The pay sucked unless I worked endless hours then the check didn't seem that bad. It was long hours during my summer vacation, but it helped to pay the car bills, and give some extra cash while in high school.
Now I can't really eat a Burger King cause of working there before though.
My frist job was as a telemarketerl. I really hated it because pretty much all the time as expected I would get hung up on and cursed out and I coudln't answer back because all the calls were recorded. And the boss was sort of a jerk just cause his attitude sucked but the pay was ok but I left cause i just hated it really bad lol.
I won't count the jobs I had in college, magazine salesman, handing out brochures for United Way, none of them lasted very long.
My first job after college was the downtown coordinator for the Texas Governor's re-election campaign. It sucked. Often I was the only one in the office, except for old guys who came in for the free coffee. I did get to attend the campaign meetings, and that was a lot of fun. However, my guy lost (I didn't even vote for him, <lol>). And I went off to training as a programmer. The money was okay though.

Well when i finished my university it was very hard to find a job. Now my first job is a game leader.
When i began that i like that, but now i would like change another job. I hope i will manage to do that next year:)))))
Well i don't know what about other countries, but Hungary quite difficult to find a job, because when the leaders or bosses see i can't see, they don't give any possibilities to improve what do i do.
hmmmmmmmmm, my first job was working i a resteraung. at the beginning it was fun.i got laid off and i hate not working.
Hi, my first job was a babysitting gig my first summer out of college. The first day, the three boys I was caring for started impersonating beer comercials, and one liked to dress up in his mom's robe. It was hilarious. I kind of got ripped off, but at least it was something to do for the summer. Now I'm out of college and work for my local housing authority. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those babysitting days. It gets hectic around the office sometimes.
hi. my first and last paid job lasted only three days, it was in fund raising camvassing for a charity for the blind, a charity which is quite big in the uk. they said they understood i used a screen reader, and would allow for that in fund raising targets I had to reach etc, well that was during interview with the disability advocate nearby. when I did the job, the charity were shits. they told me my targets were not getting met, as though I was making the calls needed, everyone was saying no to giving funds, raising funds etc. i knew that, back in 2003 when i was doing this, the economy was in a shit state, but the chartiy would hear none of it. so i got sacked for supposed lack of motivation. um? wtf?
